Our Story

Project FoodBox sources, packages, and distributes boxes of fresh produce directly from farmers to communities in need. We deliver these nutritious and healthy foods through mission-aligned partners including food banks, faith-based organizations, and most recently- health networks! Project Food Box was born out of our participation in the USDA’s “Farmers to Families” program which launched in 2020 to offset food insecurity caused by the pandemic. Our mission is to enhance this successful program and continue building an equitable food system for our most vulnerable populations.

For Food Equality

Project Food Box is filling a major void within food donations by sourcing and delivering truly fresh produce. We reduce wasted resources spent on growing foods not consumed, enable farmers to financially benefit from all crops and most importantly, provide a more equitable food system for all.

Our Mission

Our mission is to reduce waste, help stop hunger and make healthy foods accessible to all Americans. Food inequality exists not because there is a shortage of food, but because there is no infrastructure for food banks, community organizations, or healthcare networks to efficiently source and distribute fresh produce, until now.

Produce to the People

While most research on food loss focuses on post-harvest, retail and consumer waste, recent studies show significant on-farm food loss.
Why? Until now, the farmer couldn't sell the crops and didn't have the means to pay for labor, so it just went to waste. Meanwhile, millions of Americans are classified as food insecure.

Our concept is simple. Great produce should not be wasted while people are going hungry. The issue of hunger here in America is not scarcity, it's that access to quality, nourishing foods isn't equally available to all. Our mission is to bring food equality to communities across America while also providing a fair payment structure to the farmers for their crops.

It's All In The Box.
