Medically tailored groceries are whole food grocery items specifically designed and to meet the nutritional needs of individuals with chronic illnesses or health conditions. Groceries will generally contain fresh produce, whole grains, and nutrient dense proteins, while eliminating consumption of highly processed food items.

We design “Food as Medicine” programs to empower individuals to manage their own wellness journey to resolve chronic illnesses through fresh, local produce, pantry items and healthy frozen meals delivered directly to their doorsteps.

Food as Medicine is the belief that access to healthy and nutritious food is essential for well-being. This approach emphasizes the use of whole, nutrient- dense foods to address specific health conditions, improve overall well-being, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and obesity.

Food as Medicine program benefits include better access to nutritious foods, Nutritional education opportunities, and the ability to start creating better eating habits to take control of your health journey.

30-40% of food goes uneaten in the United States every year, which contribute to food access issues, greenhouse gas emissions, economic issues for farmers and growers, plus much more.

A sample menu from Project FoodBox contains 15-18 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables, including: Lettuce, Avocados, Strawberries, Cucumbers, Melons, Corn, Rice, Cabbage, Blueberries, Spinach, Squash, and more. Each week our items vary based on seasonality and local availability.

Project FoodBox addresses food access issues by allowing individuals to take control of their health journey by giving access to healthy, nutrient dense foods, specifically built for their qualifying condition.

Project FoodBox addresses food waste by working with local farmers and producers to fill each Project FoodBox, attempting to reduce the amount of food that needlessly goes unused.

Every Project FoodBox is packed, transferred to the respective county, and delivered directly to the doorsteps of our members by our last mile delivery partners.

Medi-Cal is California’s Medicaid program, which provides free or low-cost healthcare services to eligible individuals, families, seniors, and people with disabilities.
