Delaware County
Delaware County’s mountains, rivers, and patchwork of family farms make it one of New York’s most scenic agricultural regions. Dairy, pastured meats, maple, and produce from this area nourish communities throughout the Northeast. But as in many rural regions, food access can be uneven, leaving too many households without consistent access to healthy meals. Project FoodBox works to bridge this gap, helping Delaware County residents connect with fresh, local foods that strengthen families and support local farming traditions.
Our seamless solutions take a holistic approach, promoting healthier communities while supporting sustainable agriculture.

Delaware County's Agricultural Heritage
Delaware County’s valleys and wooded hills sustained indigenous communities who grew corn, beans, and squash, tapped maple trees, and foraged berries and wild plants. With settlement came dairy farms, sheep pastures, and rye and buckwheat fields, shaping a rugged, resilient agricultural identity. Modern Delaware County remains deeply tied to its land, yet economic and geographic isolation can hinder access to fresh, wholesome foods. Efforts rooted in history and community are helping bring that nourishment home to every resident.

Addressing Food Waste and Nourishing Delaware County
Delaware County is rich in farmland and local food traditions, yet remote geography and limited retail options leave some families without reliable access to fresh, healthy food. Meanwhile, food waste remains a national challenge. Project FoodBox works to change that by linking local agricultural supply with community demand — reducing surplus, increasing food security, and strengthening the county’s resilience from Andes to Hancock.
Nourishment for Mind & Body
Visualize a Delaware County where every household benefits from the wholesome foods produced in nearby valleys and farms. When nutritious, locally grown food is accessible to everyone, kids thrive in the classroom, adults stay strong and active, and seniors remain independent and engaged. Project FoodBox helps bring this promise to life by bridging rural gaps and ensuring that all families can access medically tailored, nutrient-dense foods. In Delaware County, healthy food knits communities together and fuels opportunity across generations. Investing in nutrition means investing in the county’s future.
