Schuyler County
Home to Watkins Glen and nestled in the Finger Lakes, Schuyler County blends tourism with a rich agricultural landscape of vineyards, orchards, and small-scale farms. While the region produces exceptional food and wine, not all residents have reliable access to fresh, nutritious staples for their families. Project FoodBox partners with local organizations to close this gap, ensuring that the bounty of the Finger Lakes reaches every household in Schuyler County — from lakeside villages to rural hillsides.
Our seamless solutions take a holistic approach, promoting healthier communities while supporting sustainable agriculture.

Schuyler County's Agricultural Heritage
Long before vineyards marked the landscape, Schuyler County’s fertile Finger Lakes terrain supported indigenous agriculture — maize gardens, squash patches, wild rice marshes, and rich fisheries. Later, immigrant farmers introduced dairy herds, potatoes, and fruit orchards. Today’s mix of vineyards and small farms reflects this layered food heritage. Yet access to healthy local food is not universal. Community partners are working to ensure every Schuyler County household can benefit from the land’s enduring abundance.
