Tioga County's Agricultural Heritage

Long before European settlement, the fertile floodplains of Tioga County supported Haudenosaunee farmers who grew the Three Sisters alongside native fruits, nuts, and medicinal herbs. Agricultural families later built dairy operations, poultry farms, and apple orchards that shaped rural life for centuries. Today, despite this deep agricultural legacy, food insecurity persists in parts of the county. Community advocates are working to reconnect residents with the nourishing bounty that has defined Tioga’s identity for generations.

“Medically tailored” refers to food that is selected and portioned based on a person’s specific health condition, dietary restrictions, and nutritional needs — all designed to support clinical outcomes and overall wellness.

Each box includes a variety of fresh produce, whole grains, and other nutrient-rich items. The selection may vary based on the season and availability, but all items are chosen with health and freshness in mind.
